History of the Dingley Supers
The Dingley Supers were formed in 2010, when a group of former Dingley FC Players came together wanting to continue to play footy after their senior careers ended. They joined the Vic Metro Superules under the banner of the AFL Masters Association to form a team of over 35s players.
From the outset, the team enjoyed much success on the field, making finals in every season and winning the South Zone Division title in 2012.
In 2014, the league moved to a 2 team model, where each club was required to field a firsts and reserves side. It was a challenge, but the players and members rallied to form 2 teams for the first time – offering around 50 players the chance to have a kick every second Sunday. With the additional players, success was immediate with an undefeated season in 2014 resulting in the Dingley Supers first official premiership, defeating Carrum Cowboys in the Grand Final. It was back-to-back flags in 2015, with a hard fought win over Parkdale. In 2016 we achieved promotion in to the Vic Metro Premier Division – arguably the highest level of Masters football in the country.
A difficult year on the field led to the formation of a committee for the first time in late 2016. The group needed to evolve with many of the founding players now in their forties. It was decided that we needed to step up and increase recruitment and player retention. The decision was made to officially Incorporate the Dingley Supers and after 7 years of support from the Dingley Football Netball Club, we needed to stand on our own two feet.
An extensive marketing campaign over summer has led to several new recruits and a buzz around the group for 2017, in the Southern Division of the Vic Metro Superules.
