CHAMPION PURP HONOURED
Brendon Parker was honoured at a Testimonial dinner on 16th August, 2008 held in Nathalia’s clubrooms. The veteran full forward has clocked up almost 400 senior matches in his football career. Starting his career as a junior with Nathalia before joining the GV with Tongala in 1991 to win the League’s best and fairest award, the Morrison medal. Brendon was drafted to Carlton in 1992, he then moved to North Adelaide in 1995-99 in the South Australian National Football League topping the goal kicking awards for four of the five seasons. After coaching stints at Tongala and Newtown and Chilwell (Geelong) he returned to Nathalia in 2004.
Brendon has dominated the MFL goal kicking award for the past 4 seasons booting more than 100 goals each season since returning to the Purps. Knee problems have hampered Brendon’s ‘08 season but last Saturday the champion full forward kicked 15 goals on his Testomial Day recording a best on ground performance.
Guest speakers from Tongala Football Club and video messages from Carlton, North Adelaide, Newtown and Chilwell along with home club Nathalia gave accounts of his football prowess.

Brendon was the League's Leading Goalkicker in 2004 with 92 goals; 2005 with 120 goals; 2006 with 108 goals and in 2007 with 106 goals.
