NEWBRIDGE NETBALL CLUB
- HISTORY -
1946–1950 Loddon Valley Basketball Association was formed in 1946. Teams travelled with the football side sometimes in Alex Smith's cattle truck. Starting times (when they got there) were a half hour before the football started. The Twigg girls, Elvie Davies, Jean Cox, Jean Wicker, Betty Nancarrow, Dorry Rivvitt and Dulcie Cox (who made the maroon skirts) were among the early Newbridge players. They would train one day a week running three laps of the football oval.
The court was marked on the ground near the old change rooms. One unduly rough game against Inglewood resulted in all Inglewood's team reported except their centre player.
1951–1962In 1950 the football club disbanded also basketball, the club reformed the next year and the girls wore knee length green tunics with white blouses. August 23rd 1953 There was a Basketball and Football practice match against former players a rematch was held on August 29th 1953 resulted in losses for the "Oldies" and plenty of sore muscles. Marg Heitmann umpired for many years in the late 1950's and early 60's. The girls changed back to maroon skirts and white blouses in the 1960's and played on the courts marked out with pipe clay, a tedious job before every home game, we had 3 courts marked with moveable goal posts.

Isobel Hamilton coached the 1967 Juniors and early in 1968 came out of retirement to make up the team after an accident to the Harris girls.
