Following a decision by the NFNL, we can advise that all football & netball training, practice matches and the season itself have been suspended until at least Saturday May 2nd. (For more details from the NFNL click here)
This decision is in line with all metropolitan football & netball leagues and as a result of consultation with AFL Victoria and relevant health authorities. The leagues will meet again on April 14th to review the situation and further announcements will follow.
It is obviously disappointing for all of us, but these are unprecedented circumstances, and we must of course respect and follow the directive. We will be planning for a mid-season start, however, as we know, the situation is fluid and ever changing, so it is all but impossible to put concrete plans in place until we have more certainty about what the season will look like.
Whilst we are in this hiatus, please take some time to reflect on the place sport plays in our lives, and realise how lucky we are to be able to be involved, whether that be as a player, coach, committee member, sponsor, member or supporter. Sport is one of the uniting forces in our community and we should be grateful for it, and, when we do get a chance to play again, embrace it with fervour and passion. In the meantime, please ensure to heed government warnings and advice and to look out for friends, family and those in the community who are particularly vulnerable.
