If you haven't crossed paths with Steve Moody at some stage in the past couple of decades you haven't been involved with footy on the Coast in that time. They guy has literally done everything.
A former player at Maroochydore, Moods has become even better known for his coaching and mentoring roles over the past 20 years. While he may be the current assistant of the Senior Squad, he is usually coaching multiple squads at any given time, from rep sides to school sides.
If you haven't done so already, make sure you go over and 'like' the Sunshine Coast Hall of Fame Facebook page to keep updated on all the happenings.
Here's what AFL Queensland Regional Manager Paul Tresise had to say ablout him on Saturday night.
"Moods has been a wonderful servant to the game of AFL on the Sunshine Coast over a lengthy period.
"His time spent having a kick in many corners, mainly as midfielder over 12 seasons.
Not one to stay away from the game, coaching and player mentoring became his offering to the game.
"Many Junior teams over the past 15 years have benefited from his contribution; in fact his commitment for most of us would have us exhausted.
"In 2010 we recognised his commitment to the game with Induction to the Sunshine Coast Hall of Fame. From then he has just simply done so much more, that his elevation to legend status tonight just has to be.
"If I can indulge you for a further few moments …….…. this dossier of involvement is most compelling:
• In 2010 he was recognised as the AFL Queensland “Youth Coach of the Year”.
• Since he has continued with much gusto to coach junior teams / colts teams / now assisting with the senior teams,
• Coached the Sunshine Coast U15 Schoolboys team over those five years,
• For three years he coached the Queensland schoolboy’s team, this year assisted with the Youth Summer Development Program
• The past two years coached the Sunshine Coast Under 16 representative team.
• And just last week my inbox chocked up with comments he was out there umpiring Youth footy to while away a few hours.
"Tonight we honour the elevation to Legend status of Steve Moody"
