How about the Magoos! I saw a drop kick, a flick-pass, any number of ‘don’t argues’, and some bone crunching tackles. Fantastic stuff! Great to be at home again, kicking to the Dookie Hills end and in absolutely perfect conditions. With Big Jack out, Moo was handed the main rucking responsibilities, with assistance to come from Congo. We started brilliantly with Moo dominating. Point. Our onballers were getting plenty of opportunities. Point. Fergy was looking to run and carry. Point. DC was asserting his presence across the half forward line. Point. Trenna was off to a brilliant start and was lively deep in the forward line. Point. Point. Point. We looked to have our share of the pill, but just couldn’t capitalise. Point. The Echo was continuing his good form from the last month. Qtr time scores 0.8 to 3.1. Moo had earlier copped one in the scone and came out looking like a cast member from Xanadu. Even though it was a warm day, ReeShe was a bit too keen for the early tan and made to put his jumper back on. Offensive! Point. A boundary throw-in on the Member’s wing ended up with DC breaking a tackle and bursting through the half forward line – GOAL! Six points with one kick! That somehow seemed a much more efficient way of scoring. Moo, who had continued his domination in the ruck, snapped with his left from 40 to put another big one on the board. Congo was providing great assistance in the ruck. Tater and Shanno were working behind the ball and providing plenty of drive. There was a sheep-dog on the field. DC capitalised on an opposition cock-up to snag another major. The Umpire’s Security Officer was again in the spotlight. This one couldn’t find ‘the rabbits’ when the siren went. Embarrassment. Half time scores 3.13 to 6.5. Bowlsie forward. Diesel back. I’m sure we had more possession than those other blokes, but we continued to rack up the behinds. We started the quarter well with a Moo-tap to Ferg, to DC who drove it deep into the forward 50. Bowlsie got up high and reached across the pack to snatch a ripper. Goal. It was déjà vu when Ferg gathered and again gave off to the running DC who found Bowlsie for his second. KeeShe had the better of his man and was providing drive. Hicksie was lively and great below his knees. Three quarter time scores 5.22 to 9.5. Just 7 points down. Congo into the ruck and Moo forward. A flurry of activity early in the fourth saw The Roaders hit the lead. 6.24.60 to 9.5.59 following another goal to The Moo. Waxing at half back with Joey, to Hicko, to Joey, to Hicko, saw the ball work its way forward and ended with Shanno snapping truly for his first and our seventh. The view from the Box was getting hazy as the Zeerust Doctor rolled in. A free to the bandaged Mooster on the 50 brought up his third for a BOG performance. Trenna popped up late in the game for one as well. A good time to call time, me thinks! Final scores 9.24.78 to 14.8.92. A huge thank you to Stevie Allen for a fantastic day. Catch you next week …. (..we’re goin’ on a Road Trip!!)
