Welcome to “Blast from the Past”. Our aim is to cover off on past players, coaches and support staff of The Western Magpies from all over Australia and we trust that you find it interesting reading. This week we feature a player who starred for the Magpies in the early 2000’s. Today we revive the career of former QAFL, AFL and VFL Player, Marty Pask.
Marty Pask played most of his footy from full forward in his early days at The Western Magpies as well as key defensive positions. Debuting as a 16 year old through the Sherwood Juniors for the club he was an exciting and talented footballer on the paddock and an energetic and social person off it. Marty went on to play senior football at the Brisbane Lions and played with some of the great players of that era including Michael Voss, Jason Ackermanis and Simon Black,iInjuries prevented Marty from fulfilling his potential at AFL level. Once his time in the AFL was up Marty played local footy in Melbourne before moving onto to play with Werribee in the VFL. Still residing in Melbourne he works as Head of Athlete Representation in Australia for an International Sports Management Company and has a beautiful little daughter with his partner Sharni. He still has some links to the club through the management of former Magpies now AFL players Jackson Allen and Jordan Bourke,Marty hopes to get up to Queensland this year to see the Western Magpies play and catch up with other blasts from the past!
