SILVAN 2014NEW RECRUITS
LUKE BEDDOME
Luke, 21 is a highly gifted young footballer. He played a pivotal role in South Wantirna's 2010 U18 2nd Div premiership. He has always been a standout player throughout his junior football career. A booming left footer, Luke is very capable on his right. And is also blessed with freakish ability.
Unfortunately Luke has battled persistent niggling injuries over the last 18 months. Which restricted him to only a handful of games. But with his body back on track, Luke is looking to reignite his promising career at Silvan. Luke follows great mate and fellow U18 premiership teammate, our own Paulie Jones to the Cattery. And of course any buddy of Paulie's is a buddy of #catsfooty!
Welcome to Silvan Luke and good luck in 2014!
JAKE USLAR
Jake 22 is a tall, athletic & quick utility, who can play Halfback, wing or Half forward. Off halfback Jake's leg speed enables him to break lines and deliver the ball to leading forwards with pin point accuracy. Up forward jake possesses strong hands and is a clever & proven goal kicker.
Jake played U18s at Warburton where he was instrumental in Warbys 2008 U18 premiership, ironically and unfortunately against Silvan!
Jake has played senior footy at Coldstream for last two seasons. In round 16 against Silvan, Jake was awarded the "Brett Hartman Medal" for his BOG performance. We all hope he can win another medal next year but this time in Silvan colours!
With Jake's age and speed he'll fit in perfectly to the style of footy senior coach, Chris Murphy has in mind for Silvan next year. Murph's influence on Jake is sure too hold him in good stead.
We would like to welcome Jake to #catsfooty and wish him well in 2014 and beyond!
JAKE HEALEY
Jake, 22 is a former Silvan junior who returns to the Cats after two years away. Jake is another tall, athletic and extremely quick utility. Who has the talent to play both ends of the ground. Jake is definitely a player with huge potential and we believe this return to his home club will see him reach that potential in 2014. Jake has many friends at Silvan and the club is very pleased to welcome him back!
Here's to a big year Jakey, and good luck mate!
#catsfooty get around it!
NICK McCONNELL
Nick, 28 is a power CHF who comes to Silvan after playing all his career at 1st Division club, South Croydon. Standing at an imposing 197cm, Nick will provide a huge target down forward for our running half backs and on ballers. Having played a pivotal role at CHF in South Croydon's 2006 (3rd div) & 2009 (2nd div) EFL premierships, Nick is looking for more success at Silvan. Nick is well known for his strong, aggressive contested marking and booming right foot.
With a young family now in tow, Nick was looking for a change of scenery. And with his close friendship with our B&F winner Tyson Mckenzie, Silvan is the club Nick now calls home.
We would like to welcome Nick, his wife Kate and their 3yo son Jack to our club. And wish him all the best in 2014.
MITCHELL SKINNER
Mitch, 22 is a half back/wing type player. He's a very skillful right footer who's also quite capable on his left. Mitch has spent the last 4 seasons playing at YVMDFL 1st Div club Mt Evelyn. Where he played under our newly appointed senior coach Chris Murphy for 3 of those seasons. Murph was very keen on getting Mitch to Silvan. Sighting his leg speed & ability to run and carry from down back, as a weapon we can use to turn defence into attack. Having said that, Mitch loves a goal too!
With Mitch looking for a fresh start and a desire to return to the EFL style of footy he played as a junior at Mooroolbark, the timing couldn't be more perfect.
We welcome Mitch into #catsfooty and wish him well in 2014 and beyond.
