The Tweed Coast Tigers continued their strong form from 2011 by wining their Rd 1 clash against Bond Uni in the first taste of the new QAFL Div 4 South Competition. In a big bang to the start of the season the Tigers hosted a Double header at Rd Mountain aka “The Jungle” with Carrara Saints getting the points over a new look Byron Magpies in Game 1. Over 500 spectators for the second game sore a very new look Tweed Coast Tigers take on the unknown Bond Uni. The Tigers have had a number of key players leave the club for work reasons including their Premiership Captain Jai Purcell and players Tim Wells, Anthony Pope, Lachlan Earl, Jacob Eldridge, Jessie Wilmen, Anthony Mercuri and Nathan Wilson. But this has provided the Tigers with the opportunity to try some new blood, with 8 new players pulling on the Tigers colours for the first time and the return of man mountain David Round and goal scoring machine Jason Bolt it was up to newly appointed Captain Josh Edwards and Coach Shags to rally the troops for the first time this season.
