The Tweed Coast Tigers have made a welcome return to
Tigerland Pottsville by belting the Lismore Swans in front of a vocal home
crowd.
With a number of stars missing including forward Roundy,
Ruckman Wilson and onballer Ash it was once again a test of the Tigers depth to
match Lismore on Saturday. As has been the case all season once the Tigers
cross the white line the lads in the black and gold striped Jerseys’ stand hard
and fast and produced the goods.
With the welcome
return of Giant ruckman Strope the super consistent onballers including Jai,
Johno, Bones, Jimmy and of course Arnold systematically took apart the Swans to
deliver a massive 38 scoring shots for the Tigers.
The forwards delivered the goods with Nugget kicking 4,
Muzza 3, Jacob 3 and the Boltman 2 , who came straight from the hospital and
the birth of his second baby, a healthy little girl, Indiana Joy Bolt. Big congrats to Bolty and
wife Willow, well done team Bolt.
On the field the Swans showed glimpses of why they are
second on the ladder with some good running football particularly in the second
quarter where they matched the Tigers 5 goal effort.
However after half time the Tigers backline dominated the
Swans forwards with Timmy and Westy again proving the scourge of the opposition
forwards to consistently rebound any attacks.
But the best on ground and the undisputed players player for
the day was of course Arnie, who took the game to another level running freely
at will to kick 10 goals and totally dominate the hapless Swans. Arnie is a
Tweed Coast local lad who is loving his footy with the Tigers and proving to be
a massive handful for the other teams, a true pleasure to watch.
The Tigers return to their heartland was boosted by a large,
vocal home crowd that included one very special Tigers supporter. Darren
Lockyer Australian Rugby League Captain was there to watch the Tigers big win.
Darren is now a regular local in Pottsville and it was fantastic to see the
superstar on the field after the game banging 50 m goals with his own sherrin
having a kick to kick with some local kids. Rumours are a foot of a code switch,
could we see the champ in Tigers colours in the future years, we can only hope,
stay posted.
All in all another massive win for the Tigers who continue
their march towards September.
Thanks to all the Tigers support staff, game day volunteers
and the fantastic Tigers crowd.
