Official Match Report

Competitive game. Great assistance from Bill Triantafilopoulos as reserve referee and AR2.

Alex Gravier (AR1). Alex is still learning his craft. Some key observations that I constructively fed back to Alex
- Arrivied at the game @ approximately 2.30pm. I had arranged for both clubs to have club assistants at the ready. Expressed the importance of arriving no later than 2.15pm if appointed to a 3pm Senior game.
- Attire arriving/departing from game. Understanding from discussions with Alex he has only been refereeing 4-5 months, turning up to the game with white whincheater jumper and white runners not a good look. recommended if not investing in referee pre-game apparel, to at least wear black top and shoes
- Lined up on the wrong half (defensive left hand side) prior to kick off, had to instruct Alex to change halves before kick off. For a AR1 not a great look
- Was signaling offsides with left arm.

Hopefully Alex took the feedback on board. All games we officiate are important, this was a game that had significance in both promotion & relegation battle, so we need to ensure @ State 3 (or any State League level), we have officials competent in their role. I enjoy mentoring young referees, perhaps a heads up prior to the match that I was to be allocated such an inexperienced AR1 would have been great.
