The Hamilton Kangaroos are delighted to announce that Dr Geoff Handbury AO has agreed to become the club’s inaugural Number One Ticket Holder. Chairman John Pepper will welcome the Hamilton philanthropist to the Hamilton Kangaroos family officially at Melville Oval on Thursday 26th March. “We are thrilled that someone of Geoff’s calibre has accepted this role and we want to warmly welcome him and his family to the Kangaroos as we prepare for our 2015 season in the Hampden League,” Pepper said.
When we look back and see how much Geoff has contributed to the two former clubs and now the Hamilton Kangaroos, we feel it is a fitting tribute. ‘With construction already started on the new lighting project at Melville Oval, we wanted to shine the light on Geoff for this occasion as he has been a shining beacon for this town for many years and now many more years to come with this latest project’, says Pepper.
"I am delighted to accept this great honour and compliment to be the Number One Ticket Holder for the Kangaroos. Anything I can do to help with the success for their upcoming season I am happy to do.No doubt a country town's footy team brings the citizens of the town together better than anything I know", Mr Handbury said.
Although the Hamilton Kangaroos are competing in our third season, we wanted to wait until we had a fitting number one ticket holder, someone that contributes to the community, has a passion for the town and is a well respected member of our community. That is why we have decided to award Geoff with this honour for the following two seasons.
