At the start of the game the WBGT Reading was 28.

In the 20th minute a water break for 1 minute was taken due to the heat.

In the 30th minute a player from Heidelberg United went to ground feeling dizzy. The AR 1 and the Heidelberg United TD checked the reading and it was 29.4. The game was subsequently abandoned.

The Bentleigh Greens team management were not aware of the rule and were arguing with the match officials and the Heidelberg bench accusing them of not having the players and wanting to call off the game.
