Official Match Report

Very physical game played by both sides. Every 15 seconds or so there was a tackle which one of the teams appealed for, I awarded the ones worthy of a free kick and ignored some that were on the edge of foul or no foul to help the game flow. If I hadn't, there would be a free kick at least 3 times a minute. Box Hill coach was very angry for the majority of the match and personally complained to me about some decisions made by the assistants that I decided to award. There was also a very controversial goal, scored by Adem Turatovic scored in the 54th minute; Box Hill defender made a sliding attempt to save the ball from going in after the striker had gone past the keeper. I didn't award instantly, as from my angle the ball did not look like it went in but after 2-3 seconds, I looked at AR 2 and he said it was a goal. After that goal, the Box Hill coaches and players lost their temper. There were two penalties, both in the first half as a result of stopping the impeding the progress of opposing players by body cheques. Overall, very intense game but the behaviour of Box Hill staff and players was a major issue throughout the match.
