About Us
WELCOME TO THE EAST RINGWOOD JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB WEB SITE.
In 2003 the East Ringwood Junior Football Club has made further progress in our objective to make our club the benchmark of the EFL Junior Football competition. We now have 8 Teams representing East Ringwood in yearly age groups from Under 9 to Under 15 - unfortunately no Under 16's in 2003, however, that will be remedied in 2004. These Teams comprise over 200 registered players from over 165 families located in our area. These include families that have chosen our Club and who travel from afar as Wandin North, Vermont Olinda, Ferntree Gully, Mooroolbark, Mitcham and other surrounding areas.
We now have 2 Under 9 Teams for 2003 and would welcome any other players who want to participate in a very structured and positive non-competitive environment.
In conjunction with the Senior Club, the East Ringwood Junior Football Club has over the last six years developed and run a Community Programme to achieve the following goals:
· Raise awareness and participation in the community for Australian Rules Football.
· Provide a wider perspective to our Club members of our role within the community at large and to enhance the community perception of local football clubs, in particular the East Ringwood Football Club.
· To provide Sports leadership to our Club members and the Football community.
· To enhance the development of children both physically (motor co ordination and skills) and ethically (i.e. fair play, team work, leadership and sportsmanship).
To date we have had great success in achieving these goals through our involvement in the following community activities:
GOOD SPORTS ACCREDITATION PROGRAM
Sports clubs such as ours have significant influence in the community and can play a major role in encouraging people to live healthier lifestyles. In recognition of this, the East Ringwood Junior Football Club has elected to participate in the Good Sports Accreditation Program.
The program is run by the Australian Drug Foundation in conjunction with Vic Health, TAC and the Department of Human Services and has been designed to assist clubs with the responsible management of alcohol and is the only statewide accreditation program of its kind.
As a community based club we believe involvement in this program is an important step towards recognising the responsibility our club has to our members, their families and the general community.
To become Good Sports accredited, we will address a number of criteria including having trained personnel to handle any issues relating to the serving and drinking of alcohol. The Good Sports Program is a way for our club to manage alcohol better and demonstrate to our community that we are dealing with this issue proactively. This program will be another measure for our family orientated Junior Club and further enhance our existing Club Policies and Code of Conduct, which have been in place for over 3 years.
ERJFC AFL AUSKICK PROGRAM
At present our Club provides both financial and human resources to the various AFL Auskick Clinics. This support is demonstrated by:
· Senior players attending weekly AFL Auskick Clinics.
· 50% Auskick fee subsidy for ERJFC Players attending Auskicks (U9 to U11 age groups)
· Payment of fees for Level 1 Coaching Courses (over 20 Coaches in last 3 years)
· Sponsorship of Auskick end of year encouragement trophies.
· Auskick Family Days (half time grid matches) at our Senior Club home games introducing over 100 "new" families to our Club and EFL Football each year.
ERJFC PRIMARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
At present our Junior Club provides both financial and human resources to local Primary Schools in the form of:
· Provision of the "Smoke Free" football and Coaching resource kits to local Primary Schools.
· Assistance by Players/Coaches in coaching of School Football teams.
· Supply of funding for the purchase and installation of Football goal posts at Tinternvale and Eastwood Primary Schools in 2002.
Together with our AFL Auskick Program and local Primary School activities we have the involvement of many more families that are exposed the great benefits that Australian Rules football offers to youth and adults alike.
We would also like to thank those parents and families who have helped out each week to get our Teams onto the field. All parents and families are there each week for the same reason; to watch our children play and enjoy their football. The Club will always accept any offer of help from the Parents.
Our successes so far this year have been in furthering the development of Player communication, leadership skills, and their willingness to participate (train/learn) with an emphasis on sportsmanship.
We look forward to a great Season in 2003 and welcome any new families to come and have a look at our Club at any time.
GO ROOS!
