Are you still involved in footy?
Yes, 2 sons are playing at the club I was coaching last year.
Where do you see local QAFL heading in the future?
I see the Queensland comp getting stronger and stronger as there are good numbers coming through the junior levels I still think the AFL needs put back into local clubs, they need to support the coaches and volunteers at junior levels so we keep the kids coming back and improving each year.
Michael Blackmore played as onballer and at times small forward for The Western Magpies in the late 90s early 2000s. Mousey kicked off his senior career with the Sherwood Football Club in the old Gold Coast Football League after graduating through the Sherwood juniors. He had brief stints at West Brisbane and Yeronga Football Clubs before saddling up for The Western Magpies. A skilful and courageous inside midfielder Mousey was very well respected by his team mates and opposition alike. His attack on the ball and the contest was second to none and would quite often finding himself in the hands of medical staff requiring patching up. Still residing in Brisbane he works at Royal Foods as the Queensland Sales Manager and has two future stars of the club in the making with his boys Lachlan and Max. You can often see Michael around the club either assisting the juniors or cheering on the senior team and when you do go and say gedday and tell him you enjoyed his blast from the past!
