Congratulations to Buln Buln ruckman Matt Gray and Cora Lynn trio of midfielder Ricky Clark, half back Nathan Muratore and full forward Ryan Gillis for selection in the VCFL 2 team to play the VAFA (B to Division 4) team at the Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo this Saturday. All four starred in the EDFL’s 45 point victory over the Maryborough-Castlemaine League in the VCFL Championships in May.
Matt Gray who won the Alf Walton Medal for the EDFL league best and fairest in 2005 before a seven year stint with Warragul in the GFL is no stranger to representative football having also played in the VCFL 2 team last year. The 33 year old Clark will add plenty of experience to the team. He joined the Cobras last year after a stellar career at Narre Warren and Gembrook-Cockatoo and has been named vice-captain. Muratore was a team mate of Clark at Gembrook and also joined Cora Lynn last year and boasts TAC Cup experience with the Eastern Ranges and VCFL U/19 representation in 2012. Flamboyant forward Ryan Gillis has represented the EDFL for three consecutive years and just rewards for the 341 goals he has kicked since he arrived at the Cobradome from Mornington in 2011. Of interest to EDFL fans former Cora Lynn coach and league 2013 best and fairest Brendan Kimber now coach of the reigning Alberton League premiers Phillip Island is a co vice-captain with Clark while former Garfield premiership utility Luke Bee-Hugo now with Cranbourne has also been selected in the VCFL 2 team.
